Text Message Scares Yidden
A text message that has been circulating this past week was somone's idea of a bad and unfunny joke. The text message had a few versions, this is how some looked:
---
Fwd: TERRIBLE TRAGEDY! A 17 yr old bucher from Israel was kidnapped by arabs. pls B mispalel 4 "YOSEF ben ROCHEL". please fwd to 10 people don't break chain
---
Fwd: Terrible tragedy happened! A 17 year old bucher from Israel was kidnapped by arabs! pls B mispalel 4 Yosef Ben Rochel.
---
Fwd: BREAKING NEWS: A 17 year old bucher from Israel was kidnapped by arabs! pls B mispalel 4 Yosef Ben Rochel.
---
Those were just a few examples of the widely circulated text message. Some of them even had the Chutzpah to say "Forward to as many people as you can" or "Don't break the Chain". IF YOU HAVEN'T REALIZED THIS TEXT MESSAGE IS A JOKE it is talking about "Yosef ben Rochel" who was sold in this week's Parsha, Parshas Vayeishev. Alot of innocent Yidden actually believed this message and Kehillos went as far as to say Tehillim. Most text messages that go around and ask you to say Tehillim for somebody, are in fact true, but this one as it turns out was just a bad joke.
