Eretz Yisroel: Israeli Chief Sephardi Rabbi, Rav Shlomo Amar has called a Yom Tefillah for this Thursday in response to the global financial crisis. "Torah and Chinuch institutions are finding existence difficult, and some are in danger or closing, in addition people have lost their jobs" R' Amar warned. (Click Letter to Enlarge).
R' Amar asks for a one-hour period of Tefilah and Selichos before Mincha this Thursday on behalf of those suffering from financial difficulties. In addition, he asked that anyone who can, should fast on that day, and that those who cannot fast, should give Tzedakah instead of fasting.
