UPDATED - Fire Breaks Out in Quality Health Center in Williamsburg

Williamsburg, New York: A 3 alarm fire broke out on Shabbos morning at 9:00AM at 138 Divison Avenue at the corner of Driggs Avenue and Clymer Avenue. The fire was in the 2 storey, Quality Health Center/Clymer Terrace. 10 Hatzolah ambulances responded (see complete Hatzolah story below). A 99 year old man is missing in the fire. Misaskim is working with FDNY and OEM to be allowed to enter the building which is unstable and is partially collapsed. The 99 year old man has been missing since the fire R"L and was supposedly seen knocking on a window.

Update: R' Mechel Weiss, who is 100+ was seen knocking on the window at about 9:00AM, 2 people tried to enter but it was impossible because of the of the heat and smoke. The fire started over the Division Pharmacy, the reason for the fire is still unknown.

Update - 7:30PM: The building is not in stable condition yet, Misaskim not permitted to enter as of now, construction crews, FDNY, NYPD, Hatzolah, and Red Cross are still on scene.

Hatzolah Story: A 3 alarm fire this morning in the Williamsburg area. A Hatzolah unit responded to Clymer Terrace Hall. The first unit on scene (W-109) screamed over the air that people are trapped Hatzolah Base immediately dispatched 5 Williamsburg buses, 2 East Side Buses and about 40 units, ALS and BLS to help with the evacuation and treating. At this time 1 elderly person is still missing

Summary Story: Williamsburg woke up today to sirens blaring, and smoke all over. Both sides of the corner house in Clymer Road and Division Street were engulfed in flames. The flames were visible for blocks, while the smell reached until Wallabout Avenue. The 3 alarm fire completely destroyed the Pharmacy, Quality Health Center, Clymer Terrace Hall, a Guest House, and the Firth family Residence. Miraculously, the Firth family with 8 Einiklech managed to escape, Baruch Hashem, but the search continues for the grandfather R' Mechel Weiss (100+) who was briefly seen waving at a window, until now no one was allowed into the buildng

Update: The name of the missing man, seen knocking on a window, is R' Dovid Weiss who is a Great-Grandfather and a Holocaust survivor. He used to say "I was pulled from the gas chambers by angels". The search is now on.

Update - 8:30PM: Misaskim now arriving on location at Division Street. Meanwhile, FD is changing shifts now, after an almost 12 Hour operation. Chesed Shel Emes has been there since Shabbos is over.

Update - 11:30PM: The current plan now, is to take down the roof and the walls of the second floor to reach the body from the air because the building is unstable and is in danger of collapse.

Update - 1:15AM: YIDVID is getting reports that a body has been recovered. FDNY is now awaiting the arrival of the Fire Marshals, they have an ETA of 20 minutes.

Update - 1:30AM: The body of R' Dovid Morchai Weiss Z"L (100) has been found. Chesed Shel Emes/Misaskim working with the Fire Department found the body, the funeral will be in the morning at 500 Bedford Avenue, the body will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel.

Update - 3:00AM: Misaskim are now bringing out the Nifter onto Clymer Street. YIDVID will update you shortly on the condition of the Meis.

Update - 3:40AM: According to Misaskim, the body was found as one big peace of ice. The body was found in the dining room of his apartment, which is not in the same room as he was seen in the morning at the window.

Levaya at 1:00PM at the Satmart Shul on 500 Bedford Avenue. The Niftar will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for Kevura.
